Best AI tools for Threads in 2026
Short answer
The right AI tool for Threads depends on the job. Threadgehog writes a daily batch in your brand voice and sends it to your scheduler. Typefully and Buffer combine a scheduler with AI help in the composer, PostEverywhere adds AI credits, Hypefury has AI on its Full plan, and ChatGPT drafts posts by hand. Prices checked October 2026.

How we compared
We looked at what each tool's own pages say about Threads support, AI writing, voice learning, free plans and entry price. We did not rank by popularity, because we have no verified usage numbers for any of them. Threadgehog is our product, so we list it first for transparency and name its fit the way we name the others.
Postory and Eden also appear in these searches. Postory writes for X, Threads and Bluesky and learns tone from the writing on the account you connect; compare it in Threadgehog vs Postory. Eden is an MCP connector that lists X and Threads for posting from a Claude chat, covered in posting to Threads and X from Claude.
The order below follows the job, not a score.
If you want posts written for you
Threadgehog is built for this. You feed it examples and a brief, and a batch of drafts appears for you to approve. Drafts it is sure you would approve skip Pending once auto-approve is on. A 14-day trial with 50 AI drafts starts when the Mac app opens from the waitlist.
Tools that put AI in the composer, such as Buffer and PostEverywhere, are better when you start from your own idea and want help phrasing it. See Threadgehog vs Buffer AI Assistant.
A quick way to pick
Ask three questions. Do you want posts written for you each day, or help with posts you start? Do you need networks beyond Threads and X? And how many accounts will you run?
Daily drafts for Threads and X point to Threadgehog, sent through a scheduler you choose. Many networks and a free start point to Buffer or Typefully. A tight budget and one platform points to Hypefury Flexible at $6 a month. Occasional posting points to ChatGPT.
Each tool above links to its own pricing page in the sources, so confirm before you buy.
What we left out and why
Typefully's Creator plan is $99 a year and Business is $18 a month per social set billed yearly. Publer's Professional plan is $5 a month per account and Business is $10, or $4 and $8 billed yearly (checked October 17, 2026). We kept this list to tools whose own pages describe Threads publishing or Threads drafting.
We also did not collect review-site ratings, so nothing here claims one tool is more liked than another.
Pairing a writer with a scheduler
These categories overlap less than they look. Threadgehog does not replace a scheduler; it sends to one. Buffer, Typefully, Publer, Metricool and Postiz are all supported, with setup guides under integrations.
For role-specific examples of the daily routine, see SaaS founders, online course creators and self-published authors.
If you mainly need scheduling
Buffer and Typefully both have free plans. Buffer's free plan allows 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel, with 1 threaded post. Typefully's allows 1 social set and 10 posts a month. PostEverywhere and Hypefury offer trials only.
Any of them pairs with an AI writer. Threadgehog supports Buffer, Typefully, Publer, Metricool and Postiz, covered in how to schedule Threads posts with AI.
If you draft by hand with AI
ChatGPT, and other chat assistants, suit occasional posting. You prompt, edit and paste. Compare in Threadgehog vs ChatGPT.
Threadgehog can also run on a Claude or ChatGPT plan you already pay for, which cuts the cost of AI drafts to zero extra for the writing step.
Threads limits that apply to every tool
Meta's documentation says Threads text posts are limited to 500 characters, profiles are limited to 250 published posts per 24 hours through the API, a carousel counts as one post, and posts may contain 5 links or fewer. Any scheduler or AI tool works inside those limits. More in the Threads posting limits answer.
Prices and what is left out
Prices are list prices from each vendor's page as of October 2026. Typefully's paid prices and Publer's per-account prices load with JavaScript and could not be confirmed, so they are not quoted. Threadgehog's list prices are Solo $29, Pro $49 and Unlimited $79 a month, or $1,199 once for lifetime Unlimited, on pricing.
