Why people look past Typefully

People search for Typefully alternatives for ordinary reasons: a different price structure, a free plan with more room, a scheduler that fits a team, or an AI tool that does more than polish a draft. None of those mean Typefully is a poor tool. They mean you have a specific job to cover.

Typefully's own pricing page lists a free plan with 1 social set, 1 user and 10 posts a month. Its AI features are on paid plans. Business pricing is per social set, so cost grows with each brand you manage (checked October 2026).

If you want a free start

Buffer's free plan allows 3 channels and 10 scheduled posts per channel, but only 1 threaded post. Publer's free plan allows 3 social accounts and 10 scheduled posts per account, and X accounts cannot be connected on Free. Both are good for trying a scheduler before you pay.

Compare those limits to your posting rate. At 2 posts a day on one channel you reach 10 scheduled posts in 5 days, so most daily posters outgrow a free plan quickly.

How to choose in five minutes

Start with the channels you use. Count Threads and X as two. Buffer prices per channel, Publer prices per account, Postiz and SocialBee price by bundles of 5 or more, and Typefully prices by social set. A single-brand creator and a ten-brand agency will land on different tools.

Next, decide where the AI belongs. If you want help phrasing posts you start yourself, a composer assistant is enough. If you want drafts to arrive without prompting, look at a writer such as Threadgehog, which also learns from what you approve.

Last, check thread handling. Threads and long posts are the point for many Typefully users. Buffer, Typefully and Postiz post multi-post threads as threads from Threadgehog, while Publer and Metricool take single posts.

Switching without losing your voice

Your voice lives in your published posts, not in the scheduler. When you change tools, paste links to 10 to 20 of your best posts into a writer like Threadgehog and it rebuilds your voice from them, whichever scheduler publishes. For X posts, paste the post text as the example.

Scheduled posts in Typefully stay there until they go out, so run both for a week if you are moving.

If you want the AI to write, not just polish

Most schedulers put AI inside the composer: you open a blank post and ask for help. PostEverywhere's AI Studio and Buffer's AI Assistant work like that. Credits and limits differ. PostEverywhere caps AI credits per plan, from 10 on Lite to 500 on Scale.

Threadgehog is built for the case where you want a batch waiting. You give it example posts and a one-line description of what you promote, and it writes drafts in that voice. It also learns from approvals, so batches improve. You can read how in the answer on AI that learns from approved posts.

Why you might not need to leave

Threadgehog sends to Typefully, so adding an AI writer does not mean abandoning your editor. Set up the connection in the Typefully guide, approve drafts in Threadgehog, and the posts arrive in Typefully as threads.
