Comparison
Threadgehog vs Typefully: which one writes your posts for you?
Short answer
Typefully is a writing editor and scheduler for X, Threads, LinkedIn and more: you write, it publishes. Threadgehog is an AI writer that drafts a daily batch of Threads and X posts in a voice built from your example posts, then sends approved drafts to Typefully, Buffer, Publer, Metricool or Postiz. Many people use both.

The short version
Typefully and Threadgehog start from different places. Typefully is where you sit down and write a post, shape a thread, and schedule it. Threadgehog is where a batch of posts shows up already written, and you decide which ones go out.
If you enjoy writing and want a clean editor, Typefully is built for that. If the hard part is showing up every day with something worth posting, Threadgehog is built for that. Because Threadgehog publishes through Typefully, the two do not compete for the same job.
How each one writes posts
Typefully's writing help sits inside the editor. Its pricing page lists an AI writing assistant that rewrites and improves what you type, AI image descriptions and AI chat, on the Creator plan and up (checked October 2026). You start every post, and the AI works on your draft.
Threadgehog works the other way around. You paste 10 to 20 posts that did well in your niche, yours or anyone's. It reads them and builds six voice notes: sentence length, how posts open, how they close, words to leave out, topics, and tone. Then it writes a fresh batch of drafts, from 3 to 50 at a time, or on its own every day.
Each draft can be a single post or a whole thread, and each gets an X version too. The batch lands in Pending, and you approve or reject each draft.
A normal day with each tool
With Typefully alone, a typical session starts with an empty editor. You type or paste an idea, shape it into a post or thread, pick a time and schedule it. If you have the Creator plan, you can ask the AI assistant to tighten the wording or rewrite it. The work scales with how many posts you want out.
With Threadgehog, a typical session starts with a Pending list. You press A to approve or R to reject, edit the ones that are close, and leave. Approved posts line up in the Queue in your order, and you can drag a post up or down to change what goes out next, or press Send now to skip the wait. The work scales with how fast you can judge a draft, which is usually seconds per post.
Neither pattern is wrong. They suit different weeks. A launch week, with posts you care about word for word, belongs in an editor. A quiet week where the goal is to stay visible belongs in a batch.
Which to pick, by situation
Pick Typefully alone if you post on several networks, such as LinkedIn and Bluesky as well as Threads and X, and you write most posts yourself. Pick Threadgehog if Threads and X are your focus and drafting is the slow step. Pick both if you want an editor for hand-written posts and a writer for the rest.
For role-specific setups, the use case pages show how founders, authors, coaches and shop owners run the batch, for example newsletter writers and consultants and freelancers.
What happens after you approve
Every approve and reject teaches Threadgehog. Learn now compares what you approved with what you rejected and rewrites the rules the next drafts follow. Up to 8 of your most recent approved posts also go along as examples each time it writes.
When Threadgehog agrees with your choices often enough, auto-approve becomes available. Drafts it is sure you would approve skip Pending and go straight to the Queue. You set how many posts it writes a day, from 1 to 500.
Typefully's pricing page says its AI tools understand your voice and learn how you actually write. It does not describe a loop built on approvals and rejections, and it does not list a daily auto-written batch.
Using them together
Typefully is one of the five schedulers Threadgehog sends to, next to Buffer, Publer, Metricool and Postiz. Connect it once with the setup guide on the Typefully integration page. Threadgehog picks a time for each post from your posts-a-day setting, spread from 9 AM to 9 PM, and sends them once a day, twice a day, every 6 hours or every hour while the app is open.
Typefully posts multi-post threads as threads, so a Threadgehog thread arrives as a thread. You keep Typefully's editor for the posts you want to write by hand, and its analytics for what went out.
Pricing as of October 2026
Typefully has a free plan with 1 social set, 1 user and 10 posts a month, according to its pricing page. AI features start on the Creator plan, which is billed annually. Creator is $99 a year (billed annually, 1,000 posts a month) and Business is $18 a month per social set billed yearly, or $20 billed monthly (checked October 17, 2026).
Threadgehog lists Solo at $29 a month (2 projects, 300 AI drafts a month, 30 images a month), Pro at $49 (10 projects, 750 drafts, 75 images) and Unlimited at $79 (unlimited projects, 1,500 drafts, 150 images). Lifetime Unlimited is $1,199 once. Yearly list prices are $249, $399 and $649. Every plan includes every feature. The Mac app is in waitlist mode: join the waitlist and the 14-day free trial, with 50 AI drafts, starts when it opens. See pricing.
Where Typefully is a good fit
Typefully publishes to X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Threads, Mastodon and Substack from one place, per the comparison table on its pricing page. If your audience is spread across those networks, one editor for all of them is a real convenience.
It has a free plan, so you can write and schedule 10 posts a month without paying, and its thread editor handles text, images, video and GIFs. It also offers an API, an MCP server and agent skills, and integrations with Claude and ChatGPT, for people who like to automate their own workflow.
Choose Typefully alone if you want to write every post yourself and polish it in a good editor. Add Threadgehog when you want drafts waiting for you each morning.
Questions
Is Threadgehog a Typefully alternative?

Does Threadgehog replace Typefully?
Not by default. Threadgehog drafts and queues posts, then hands them to a scheduler. If you already schedule in Typefully, connect it and nothing about your publishing changes.
Does Typefully have a free plan?
Yes. Its pricing page lists a free plan with 1 social set, 1 user and 10 posts a month, checked October 2026. AI features are on paid plans.
Does Threadgehog post threads to Typefully as threads?
