  1. 1

Create a brand and connect networks

In Metricool, add a brand, then connect Threads from the connections panel. Connect X too if your plan includes the X/Twitter add-on.

  2. 2

    Open the planner

Open Planning and start a new post. Pick Threads, X or both and write the text in the editor.

  3. 3

    Mind each network's limit

Keep Threads text to 500 characters and X text to 280 unless the account has X Premium. For a thread, add the extra posts in the editor.

  4. 4

Schedule or add to the calendar

Choose a date and time, or place the post in an open slot on the calendar.

  5. 5

    Check analytics

After posts go out, open the analytics tabs for each network to see how the brand is doing.

What Metricool is and who uses it

Metricool is a planner and analytics platform for social media. You organize your accounts into brands, schedule posts to them from one planner, and read reports on how each network performs. Its navigation lists Threads and X along with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube and Google Business.

Agencies use it for client brands and white-label reports, and small teams use it to plan and measure in one place. A solo founder with a Threads account and an X account can keep both in one brand.

Metricool's pricing page also lists multiple link-in-bio pages, competitor analysis and PDF and PPT reports, so many users start for the analytics and add scheduling later. For a Threads and X account, the planner and the analytics tabs are the parts you will touch most.

Metricool pricing and plans (as of October 2026)

Metricool has four plans. Free costs nothing and covers one brand, up to 20 scheduled posts a month, 30 days of analytics, the AI social media assistant and the Metricool MCP. Per its pricing page, Free manages all networks except LinkedIn and X.

Starter adds unlimited content publishing (subject to fair use), LinkedIn, unlimited analytics history, and access to the X add-on. On the annual USD view of the pricing page, Starter is $20 a month for up to 5 brands and $36 for up to 10. Advanced adds team and client management, role management, a post approval system, customizable reports and the Metricool API. It is $53 a month for up to 15 brands, $85 for up to 25 and $159 for up to 50 on the same view. Custom is priced on request.

The pricing page shows an annual discount of up to 24%, and a EUR and USD toggle. Add-ons bill separately. Per the help center, the X/Twitter add-on is $10 a month or $120 a year per connected X account, and the Advanced Analytics add-on starts at $12 a month on Starter. Check the pricing page for the monthly-billing figures.

Threads and X support, scheduling and limits

Metricool's help center publishes a summary table of formats per network. For Threads it lists up to 20 images, video, GIFs, threads of up to 80 posts, and a 500-character text limit. For X it lists up to 4 images, 1 video, 1 GIF, threads of up to 80 posts, and a limit of 280 characters, or 25,000 with X Premium.

X needs more than a plan. The help center says the X/Twitter add-on is available on Starter or higher, billed per connected X account. Threads is included with all networks on the Free plan, with no add-on to buy.

The Free plan caps scheduling at 20 posts a month. Paid plans list unlimited publishing subject to fair use.

AI features

Metricool includes an AI social media assistant on every plan, Free included. Custom plans can set their own AI assistant credits. The Metricool MCP lets compatible AI tools connect to your account, and it is available on any plan.

For a batch of posts written in one learned voice, Threadgehog writes them first and then hands them over.

How to schedule Threads and X posts in Metricool

Follow the five steps above. The one thing to settle before you start is plan fit: X connects on Starter or higher, and the API is on Advanced and Custom. If you only use the planner by hand, Starter with the X add-on is enough for X posting.

Brand structure matters. Each brand holds its own set of connected profiles, and plan limits count brands, not posts. Put the Threads and X accounts for one project in the same brand so the calendar shows both side by side.

A weekly routine keeps the calendar honest. Pick one day to fill the next seven, check which posts drew replies in the analytics tab, and write the next batch to match. If you write by hand, that is about an hour. If Threadgehog writes the batch, the hour becomes approving and rejecting drafts.

Which Metricool plan fits a Threads and X account

Start from what you need to do. For Threads alone, the Free plan connects it and allows 20 scheduled posts a month, which is under one a day. For daily Threads posting, Starter's unlimited publishing (subject to fair use) fits better.

For X you need Starter or higher plus the X/Twitter add-on, so a Threads and X setup on Starter costs the plan price plus $10 a month for the add-on. Choose Advanced only if you need the API, team and client management, or approval workflows.

Brand counts matter for agencies. Starter covers 5 or 10 brands, Advanced 15, 25 or 50. A solo founder with one project needs one brand.

Using Metricool with Threadgehog

Metricool is one of five schedulers Threadgehog sends approved posts to, along with Buffer, Typefully, Publer and Postiz. The setup is on the Threadgehog and Metricool page. Threadgehog is on a waitlist, so join the waitlist to use it when it opens.

Threadgehog connects through Metricool's API, so you need Advanced or Custom. You copy your API token from Metricool's Account Settings, then your User ID, which is the number after userId= in the browser address bar. Paste both into Threadgehog. X posting also needs Metricool's X/Twitter add-on.

After that, Threadgehog writes drafts, you approve them, and it hands them to Metricool on the schedule you choose while the app is open. Metricool publishes each one at the time Threadgehog booked, even if your Mac is off. Posts with images or video use a free Cloudinary account that you connect in Threadgehog's Publishing settings.

Where Threadgehog fits: it produces the daily batch in your voice, and Metricool stays your planner and your analytics. Threadgehog starts at Solo, $29 a month, with a 14-day free trial when it opens. See pricing.
