What Hootsuite is and who uses it
Hootsuite is a social media management platform sold per user. Its product line, called Hootsuite Social OS, covers publishing and planning (Perch), the shared inbox (Nest), analytics and listening (Lumen), AI (Wisdom) and employee advocacy (Parliament).
The plan names point at teams: Standard for a few profiles, Professional for unlimited accounts and automation, Advanced for approvals across teams, Enterprise for governance and single sign-on. A solo founder can use Standard, and the price is set per user.
Every plan also includes a unified inbox for messages and brand and competitor monitoring, according to the plans page. That breadth explains the price: you are buying a suite, and publishing is one part of it.
For Threads and X, the part that matters is Perch: one calendar where you write, preview, schedule and publish to Threads, X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube.
Hootsuite pricing and plans (as of October 2026)
Hootsuite's plans page lists four tiers. Standard is $99 per user a month, with up to 10 social accounts and unlimited scheduled posts. Professional is $199 per user a month, with unlimited social accounts, inbox automation, trend forecasts up to 90 days ahead and custom reports. Advanced is $399 per user a month and adds content approval, message routing and team performance reports. Enterprise has custom pricing.
All prices on the page are in USD, based on annual billing, and exclude taxes. Hootsuite offers monthly billing too, and says annual billing gives a lower per-user monthly rate.
There is a 14-day free trial with no credit card, and you choose whether to subscribe when it ends. Trial accounts publish 10 to 20 posts a day per organization depending on the plan, and bulk scheduling opens up on a paid plan.
Because pricing is per user, team size drives the bill. Three people on Professional come to $597 a month (3 users at $199) on annual billing, while one person on Standard is $99.
A social account is one profile, such as a personal X account, an Instagram profile or a Facebook Page. A Threads account and an X account are 2 of the 10 accounts on Standard.
Threads and X support, scheduling and limits
Hootsuite's Threads page says Threads support is included in every plan and that you can schedule and auto-publish Threads posts at optimal times. To connect, you add a social account from the dashboard and pick Threads. The page says the Threads profile must be linked to a Meta Business account.
Analytics cover post-level metrics (engagement rate, impressions, likes, replies, quotes, reposts and shares) and page-level metrics (followers, number of posts, profile engagement and profile views). Page-level numbers let you watch followers and profile views week over week. Threads comments land in the Inbox, where you can reply or repost.
Listening for Threads, meaning tracking brand mentions, trends and competitor chatter, is described as an Enterprise feature.
For X, the publishing page says the Composer tells you when you pass the character limit and shows a preview of the post before it goes live. Each network sets its own limit; see X character limit and Threads character limit.
Bulk scheduling takes up to 350 posts at once, and scheduled posts can be suspended if something happens.
Hootsuite's AI features
Hootsuite says every plan runs on Wisdom, its AI teammate that drafts, recommends and analyzes. In the app it can generate social posts and on-brand images for any network, write captions and hashtags, and answer plain-language questions about your inbox, calendar and listening data.
On Threads specifically, the Threads page says the built-in AI tools help write Threads posts, brainstorm ideas and optimize copy for reach and tone. There is also a free Threads post generator on the site.
Perch works inside ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Copilot, so you can draft and schedule from those chats.
These tools help while you write, in response to a request. A tool that produces a reviewed batch of posts every day from a stored voice is a different workflow, covered below.
Using Hootsuite together with Threadgehog
Threadgehog is a Mac app that learns a writing style from about ten example posts, writes Threads posts and X posts, and holds them in a review queue until you approve. It sends approved posts to Buffer, Typefully, Publer, Metricool or Postiz. For Hootsuite, Export only mode gives you the finished posts to paste into the Composer.
A common split for a team that already pays for Hootsuite: keep Hootsuite for the channels, inbox and reporting your team shares, and use Threadgehog with one of its five schedulers for the daily Threads and X drafting of a project. The pages for Buffer and the other schedulers show the setup.
Where Threadgehog fits: Hootsuite keeps the inbox, approvals and listening for your team, and Threadgehog covers the drafting and daily review for Threads and X.
Threadgehog is on a waitlist and starts with a 14-day free trial when it opens. Solo is $29 a month for 2 projects (see pricing).
