  1. 1

    Set up a business portfolio

Meta Business Suite needs a business portfolio. Put your Facebook Page or Instagram professional profile in it first. A Threads profile can only be added next to one of those two.

  2. 2

    Make your Threads profile public

Meta's help page lists a public Threads profile as a requirement for adding it to a portfolio.

  3. 3

    Add the Threads profile

On desktop, go to Meta Business Suite and click Settings. Under Accounts, click Threads accounts, click + Add, agree to the terms and click Add Threads account. Enter your Threads username and password and click Log in.

  4. 4

Create a Facebook or Instagram post with Threads selected

Click Create post, choose where to post under Post to, add media and text, and use the cross-post option for Threads during creation. Meta says cross-posting to Threads is available only on Meta Business Suite desktop.

  5. 5

Publish, schedule or save for later

Under Scheduling options pick a date and time, or click Publish or Finish later. Manage the post afterward from Content, where Published, Scheduled and Drafts have their own tabs.

What Meta Business Suite is and who uses it

Meta describes Meta Business Suite as a way for small businesses and creators to centrally manage their business and online presence across Meta technologies such as Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp. It is free to use on desktop and in the Meta Business Suite mobile app.

Its home screen shows a to-do list, recently published and scheduled content, and notifications. From there people plan a content calendar, create posts, stories and reels, run A/B tests of the same content in two versions, view insights, create ads and find creators in the creator marketplace.

Everything sits inside a business portfolio. Meta describes that as the container for your Pages, Instagram accounts, Threads accounts, ad accounts and the people who have access to them. Anyone who wants Business Suite needs one.

Pricing and plans (as of October 2026)

Meta's help center says Meta Business Suite is free to use on desktop and in its mobile app. Running ads from it costs whatever the ad budget is, and the tool itself is free.

That makes the comparison with paid schedulers a question of scope, not price. Meta's pages cover Facebook and Instagram scheduling and a Threads cross-posting option.

The cost shows up in setup, not in a bill: a Threads profile has to be public and added by someone with full access to the portfolio. Meta's Threads help page also notes that existing Threads profiles already used for ads sit in the same portfolio and use the same user access as the connected Instagram profile.

Because the tool is free, the first test costs nothing: add a public Threads profile to your portfolio, cross-post one Instagram post, and see how it looks in the Threads app before you commit a week of content.

How Threads works inside Meta Business Suite

Threads shows up in three places in Meta's documentation. First, a business portfolio can hold Threads accounts next to Pages and Instagram accounts. Second, the portfolio lets you run ads across Facebook, Instagram and Threads and analyze insights across Pages, Instagram accounts and Threads accounts. Third, the cross-posting article says you can cross-post content you create in Business Suite to Facebook, Instagram and Threads, with the option shown during content creation.

The cross-posting article lists which content can go where. A Facebook post can go to Facebook Stories, Instagram Feed, Facebook Groups and Threads. An Instagram post can go to Facebook Feed, Instagram Stories, Facebook Groups and Threads. The same article says crossposting to Threads is available only on Meta Business Suite desktop, and that crossposting a Facebook-only post is not currently available.

For the Threads side to work, the Facebook Page and Instagram profile must be connected and in the same business portfolio, and the Threads profile must be added to that portfolio. Meta also notes that starting in September 2026 you can manage Threads access settings independently from Instagram, and that this is rolling out gradually.

Meta's Business Suite pages describe scheduling in terms of Facebook and Instagram posts, with Threads as a cross-post destination you pick while creating the post. For what the Threads app does itself, see scheduling Threads natively.

Scheduling, the Planner and limits

Scheduling is documented for Facebook and Instagram. In the desktop composer, Scheduling options takes a date and time, and Active times shows recommended times based on when followers were most active on Facebook and Instagram over the past seven days. After you schedule, the Content tab separates Published, Scheduled, Drafts, Expiring and Expired posts, and you can edit, reschedule, move to drafts or delete.

The Planner is a weekly or monthly calendar of your Facebook Page and Instagram posts, stories, reels and ads. You can filter by content type and by platform, and the platform filter lists Facebook Page, Facebook Groups and Instagram account.

Meta states one posting limit in the create-post steps: the limit for posting to Instagram is ten photos. Check the length of your Threads text in the composer before you publish.

A weekly routine fits the tools it has. Open Planner on Monday, filter by Facebook Page or Instagram account, and see which days are empty. Create posts for those days, tick the Threads cross-post option while you create each one on desktop, and pick a time from Active times. Then check the Content tab on Friday: Published, Scheduled and Drafts each have a tab, so you can see what went out and move anything that missed its slot.

AI features, X, and where Threadgehog fits

Meta's overview says you can use AI to help generate content ideas in Business Suite. Meta Business Suite covers Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp. For the X side of your calendar, see cross-posting Threads and X.

Threadgehog is a Mac app for Threads and X. It writes a daily batch of posts and multi-post threads in a voice learned from about ten example posts, writes the X version when you approve a Threads draft, and sends approved posts to the scheduler you already use: Buffer, Typefully, Publer, Metricool or Postiz.
