The short version

ReThreads and Threadgehog work on different halves of Threads. ReThreads puts you into other people's conversations: it watches for fast-growing posts and helps you reply early. Threadgehog fills your own profile: it writes the posts and threads you publish yourself.

Both help with the same goal of being visible on Threads, and a reply strategy and a posting strategy are often used together. Read the ReThreads sections for the reply half. Read the Threadgehog sections for the posting half.

One practical difference up front: ReThreads is a Chrome extension, and it works inside your own browser session. Threadgehog keeps a separate project for each thing you promote, with its own voice notes, drafts and queue split between Threads and X. Solo includes 2 projects, Pro 10, and Unlimited has no project cap. You also choose how often a post promotes your product or link with the Posts that include your link setting, from 0 to 100% in steps of 5.

What each one does day to day

ReThreads runs as a Chrome extension inside your own browser session. Per its site, you set filters, such as engagement thresholds and keyword exclusions, choose a reply style, and press Start. It keeps monitoring in a background tab and prepares context-aware replies for conversations it finds. Its example says a post gaining 25 likes in 12 hours is going viral, and that early replies on such posts can earn profile visits.

Threadgehog runs as a Mac app. You paste 10 to 20 posts that did well, say what you are promoting, and it writes drafts in batches of 10, 20, 30 or 50 or on its own up to 500 a day while the app is open. Each approved Threads post gets an X version, under 280 characters when the idea fits. Drafts wait in Pending until you approve them. If you want examples of posts that worked, Find posts that work is where that starts.

Voice and style

ReThreads handles style with presets and prompts. The site names "Supportive", "Controversial" and "Insightful" tones, and lets you write a custom prompt for your own reply style. That is a quick way to change tone between sessions.

Threadgehog builds a voice from evidence. The six voice notes cover sentence length, how posts open and close, words to leave out, topics and tone. Learn now compares what you approved with what you rejected and rewrites the rules, and your recent approvals become live voice examples for new drafts. The longer explanation is in how to make AI write in your voice.

Pricing as of October 2026

ReThreads starts free with 30 replies and no card. After that, 1 Month is $24.99 as a subscription you can cancel before renewal, and 3 Months is $59.99 as a one-time payment with no auto-renewal. Both include all features, up to 500 AI-assisted replies a day, style presets and custom prompts. Payment is handled inside the extension. Its refund policy sets the free replies at 30 per account.

Threadgehog lists Solo at $29 a month ($249 a year) with 2 projects, 300 AI drafts and 30 images; Pro at $49 with 10 projects and 750 drafts; and Unlimited at $79 with 1,500 drafts, or $1,199 once for lifetime Unlimited. Every plan has every feature. The 14-day trial includes 50 AI drafts and cancels free before day 15. See the pricing page.

A week with each

On ReThreads, a session starts in Chrome. You open Threads, set the engagement threshold and keyword exclusions that fit your niche, pick a style preset and press Start. The extension watches for fast-growing posts while you work in another tab. Paid plans allow up to 500 AI-assisted replies a day, and the free tier gives you 30 to see how the replies read.

On Threadgehog, a session starts in Pending. The batch was written while you were away, so you press A or R through the list, edit the ones that are close and leave. Approved posts line up in the Queue and go out through your scheduler. If you also want visibility through replies, you can run both: the batch handles your own profile every day, and a reply session handles the hour when you are online.

Reply tools reward being present at the right minute. A posting batch rewards a short review habit. Picking one is mostly a choice about how you like to spend your time on Threads.

Using them together

The two tools do not overlap, so they can run side by side. A common rhythm: Threadgehog drafts and queues your own posts through your scheduler, and ReThreads covers the replies on other creators' rising posts during the hours you are online.

Threadgehog sends your posts through Buffer, Typefully, Publer, Metricool or Postiz, and your replies go through the ReThreads extension. Export only gives you finished posts to paste anywhere else.

Where ReThreads is a good fit

ReThreads is a good fit for anyone whose Threads strategy is replying. Its site lists AI founders, creators, meme pages, agencies and personal brands as the people it is built for. Smart filters narrow the posts to your niche, background monitoring keeps working while you do something else, and human-paced interactions in your normal browser session keep the workflow in your own account.

Its pages are short and plain about how the product works: it runs in your browser session, your Threads credentials stay on your machine, and it operates when you press Start. That clarity helps when you want to know exactly what a tool is doing in your account.

It also has a low barrier to try. The first 30 replies are free with no card, and the 3-month plan is a single payment with nothing to cancel. The install takes four steps: download the zip, unpack it to a permanent folder, load it in Chrome through the extensions page in Developer mode, and open Threads in the same browser.

If you want to join conversations early on rising posts, ReThreads is built for that job.
