The short version
Volumn.ai is built around growth on X through agents. Its nav lists AI Replies, GhostWriter, a Lead Finder, an Outreach Agent, AutoDM and a post scheduler. The product is mostly about finding people and talking to them, with a writer for original posts alongside it.
Threadgehog is built around the original posts. It learns a voice from about ten example posts, writes a daily batch for Threads and X, holds the batch for your approval and hands approved drafts to the scheduler you use. If your plan for X is outreach and replies at volume, Volumn.ai is aimed at that. If your plan is steady posting on Threads and X, Threadgehog is aimed at that.
How each one writes posts
Volumn.ai's writer is called Ghost Writer. Its feature page describes two modes: Theme Mode for a topic or niche and Goal Mode for a content objective. You set the mix of single posts and threads, pick a frequency, and choose Auto Publish or Manual Publish. A task console and log show generated content, published posts and failed attempts. Recurring tasks run on a daily, weekly or custom frequency, so a batch can arrive on its own.
Threadgehog writes from example posts instead of a brief. You paste 10 to 20 posts that did well, and it builds six voice notes it uses every time. Drafts arrive in batches of 10, 20, 30 or 50, or on their own up to 500 a day while the app is open, each approved Threads post getting an X version under 280 characters when the idea fits. Approve and reject decisions feed Learn now, which rewrites the rules. The method is in how to make AI write in your voice.
Platforms and publishing
Volumn.ai lists X as its supported platform on every plan, with 2 X accounts on Hobby and 20 on Professional. Its Schedule page covers a composer, drafts, calendar, grid and list views, filters by account, edit and reschedule, and reusable templates. Ghost Writer activity appears on the same calendar.
Threadgehog writes for Threads and X from one project and keeps drafts and queues split between them. It sends approved posts to Buffer, Typefully, Publer, Metricool or Postiz once a day, twice a day, every 6 hours or every hour while the app is open. The Postiz integration and Metricool integration pages cover the setup.
Pricing as of October 2026
Volumn.ai lists Hobby at $19 a month ($190 a year), Professional at $200 a month ($2,000 a year) and Business at $599 a month ($4,790 a year). Plans are credit-based: 240 credits a month on Hobby, 2,000 on Professional and 7,200 on Business, and the FAQ says credits stay active for 30 days. Hobby estimates about 4,500 replies and 1,000 DMs a month, and lists 1GB of storage with a 50MB file limit. Professional estimates about 20,000 replies and 5,000 DMs. Each plan starts with a 3-day free trial.
The credit model matters when you compare. Volumn.ai spreads one monthly pool across replies, lead searches, DMs and Ghost Writer runs. Threadgehog counts drafts: 300, 750 or 1,500 a month by plan, with AI packs of 150, 500 or 1,500 drafts when you want more, or your own API key for unlimited drafts with no per-post charge from Threadgehog.
Threadgehog lists Solo at $29 a month with 2 projects, 300 AI drafts and 30 images; Pro at $49 with 10 projects, 750 drafts and 75 images; and Unlimited at $79 with 1,500 drafts and 150 images. Lifetime Unlimited is $1,199 once. Every plan has every feature, and the 14-day trial includes 50 AI drafts and starts when the app opens. See the pricing page.
A week with each
With Volumn.ai on Hobby, a week might look like this. You create a Ghost Writer task with your niche and tone, choose Manual Publish for the first few runs, and read the drafts it produced. Hobby allows up to 3 active tasks and 8 runs a day across them. Once the drafts sound right, you switch the task to Auto Publish and spend the rest of your credits on replies and lead searches.
With Threadgehog, the week starts with a Pending list of drafts written from your voice notes. You press A to approve and R to reject, edit the ones that are close, and the Queue takes over. Learn now turns your choices into rules, so next week's batch starts closer to what you approved. The work is judging drafts, which takes seconds each.
Both reward a short review habit at the start. Volumn.ai spreads your attention across replies, leads and posts. Threadgehog keeps it on the post batch.
Using them together
The two can sit next to each other for different jobs. Threadgehog drafts the Threads and X posts you approve, and Volumn.ai handles X replies and lead search. Threadgehog sends approved posts to Buffer, Typefully, Publer, Metricool and Postiz, and its Export only mode gives you the finished posts to paste into Volumn.ai's composer when you want a post to go out from there.
Someone running a product launch can ask Threadgehog for a week of posts from the changelog, using the changelog to a week of posts workflow, and use Volumn.ai's reply agent to join conversations around the same topic.
Where Volumn.ai is a good fit
Volumn.ai fits a founder, agency or sales-minded creator who sees X as a lead source. Its Lead Finder searches for people already talking about your category, the Outreach Agent personalizes DMs and follows up, and AutoDM turns engagement into conversations. The Reply Agent is described as handling 100 to 300 replies a day at a human pace.
It also suits teams. Professional supports 20 X accounts and includes 2 seats, Business includes 5, and extra seats cost $10 a month. The Auto Plug feature inserts a call to action as a reply once a post meets an engagement condition, and exports, an API and MCP docs support reporting and automation.
If your goal is a pipeline of conversations on X, Volumn.ai is built for it.
