  1. 1

    Connect Threads

Add your Threads profile in Later Social. On all three plans it counts as one profile inside a social set, so a Threads profile never competes with your Instagram or TikTok profiles for space.

  2. 2

    Drag content into the calendar

Add images or video to the Media Library first, or start a text-only post from the calendar.

  3. 3

    Add the details

Write the text, add links, images or video. Use Caption Writer if you want an AI draft; each caption costs 1 credit.

  4. 4

    Schedule it

Pick the date and time. Later posts to Threads automatically with no notification needed.

  5. 5

    Read Threads analytics

Open Threads Analytics for audience insights and post performance, then plan the next week's calendar.

What Later is and who uses it

Later is a social media scheduler built around a visual calendar. You drag media or text-only posts onto the calendar, write the details, and Later publishes. Its pricing page names Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Snapchat as the supported platforms.

The plan details lean visual: Best Time to Post is listed for Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, and the AI Caption Writer is described as generating captions for Instagram posts. Creators and small teams that post photos and video are the clearest fit.

The scheduler page says you can schedule to up to 10 social profiles at once and customize the post for each, since networks have different media rules. Best Time to Post, according to Later, analyzes your past post data, follower activity and industry trends and highlights the times in the calendar.

Later also sells influencer marketing and creator programs. The plans covered here belong to Later Social, the scheduling product.

Later pricing and plans (as of October 2026)

There are three plans, shown with yearly billing, which Later says saves 25% compared with monthly billing. Starter is $18.75 a month with 1 social set, 1 user and 30 scheduled posts per profile per month. Growth is $37.50 a month with 2 social sets, 2 users, 180 posts per profile per month, a social inbox, and approvals. Scale is $82.50 a month with 6 social sets, 4 users and unlimited posts.

A social set holds one profile from each supported platform, so one set has 8 profiles. A founder with one Threads account needs one set. Extra social sets cost $11.25 a month each and extra users cost $3.75 a month each on Growth and Scale. Because a set holds one profile per platform, a second Threads account needs a second set. Growth includes two sets, so two Threads accounts fit there without an add-on.

Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial. That is enough time to schedule a week of Threads posts with your own profiles before you pay.

The posting cap works per profile. A Threads account on Starter can have 30 scheduled posts a month, which is one post a day with a day to spare. At two posts a day you would need Growth, whose cap is 180.

Threads support, scheduling and limits

Later's Threads page walks through three steps: drag content into the calendar, add text, links, images or video, and schedule so the post goes out on its own with no notification needed. Auto Publish to Threads is marked as included on all three plans.

For measuring, Later lists Threads Analytics for audience insights and post performance, and its Threads page mentions real-time engagement and impressions.

Later's Threads page describes scheduling to several profiles at once, Twitter among them, alongside Threads. When you start the trial, the composer shows which networks your plan connects.

Planning tools on every plan include a visual planner, saved captions, draft posts, and unlimited media storage with a 20MB limit per photo and 512MB per video. Qualified non-profits can get 50% off the annual Growth plan.

Threads sets its own post length; the numbers are in Threads character limit. For publishing the same idea to both networks, see cross-post Threads and X.

Later's AI features

Later's AI is built on credits. The pricing page says credits power two features, Ideas and Caption Writer. One credit generates 3 ideas or 1 caption. Starter includes 5 credits a month, Growth 50 and Scale 100. Growth and Scale can add 100 credits for $3.75 a month.

At those numbers, Starter covers 5 captions a month, or 15 ideas. A daily poster on Growth who uses 1 credit per caption has enough for 50 captions a month.

Here is a worked example. A founder who posts once a day to Threads and writes each caption with Caption Writer uses about 30 credits a month. That is more than the 5 on Starter and inside the 50 on Growth, so credits matter more than price if you rely on the AI.

Caption Writer is described as writing on-brand captions for Instagram posts, so check how it handles a short Threads post before depending on it. Ideas generates content pillars and content ideas.

Using Later together with Threadgehog

Threadgehog is a Mac app that learns a writing style from about ten example posts, writes Threads and X posts, and holds them in a review queue. When you approve a Threads post it writes the X version on its own. It sends approved posts to Buffer, Typefully, Publer, Metricool or Postiz.

If Later runs your Instagram and TikTok calendar, nothing changes there. Threadgehog covers the Threads and X side with one of its five schedulers. Threadgehog draws on its own monthly drafts, 300 on Solo, or your own key.

Where Threadgehog fits: it writes and queues the Threads and X posts. Later remains the home for visual channels. Threadgehog's review queue keeps the next batch of drafts ready, so you can approve a week of posts in one sitting and hand them on.

Threadgehog is on a waitlist. The 14-day free trial starts when it opens. See pricing or the Buffer integration.
