“How often should you post on Threads?”

How often should you post on Threads?

Short answer

Post as often as you can review and keep up; one to three a day is a pace most people can sustain. Meta's API allows 250 published posts per profile per 24 hours, far above what anyone needs. Threadgehog lets you set posts a day from 1 to 500 and spreads them from 9 AM to 9 PM.

The hard limit from Meta

Meta's Threads API documentation says profiles are limited to 250 published posts within a 24-hour period, and that publishing a carousel counts as a single post (checked October 2026). Text posts are limited to 500 characters.

That is a ceiling, not advice. At 250 a day you would post once every six minutes.

A sane pace

Meta's own creator guidance gives a floor, not a ceiling: post at least two to five times a week, and always include text. The same page links higher posting frequency to higher views per post, from an internal analysis of global creators over 30 days in the first half of 2024.

Pick a number you can review every day. One to three a day is a workable start: run it for four weeks, then compare replies and follows week by week before you add more.

Use a rule that favors quality and consistency: choose a number you can approve in a few minutes a day, hold it for a month, then look at which posts drew replies. If replies fall off when you post more, drop back.

Match the pace to your review time

The real constraint is how much time you will spend reviewing, not how many posts the API allows. A batch of ten drafts takes a few minutes to approve with the arrow keys. Thirty takes a bit more.

Set posts a day so one sitting a week covers the week. Two posts a day is fourteen drafts. If you only review once a month, a bigger batch and a smaller daily number keep the queue full.

Two different settings

Posts a day is how many drafts Threadgehog writes and schedules. Send cadence is how often it hands approved posts to your scheduler: once a day, twice a day, every 6 hours or every hour. They are separate.

With 3 posts a day and a once-a-day send, the app delivers all three in one go, with a time set for each post across the day. The scheduler then publishes them at those times. With an hourly send, it checks more often. Because the app has to be open to send, pick the cadence that matches how often your Mac is awake.

If you also post on X

Each Threadgehog project posts to Threads and X. A post that works on one can be rewritten for the other, with the X version trimmed to 280 characters and the link kept. You do not have to double your effort to double your reach. See posting to Threads and X without writing every post.

Spread posts across the day

Posting five in a row puts them in front of the same slice of people. Spreading them across the day reaches more of your followers. When you tell Threadgehog how many posts a day, it picks a time for each post and spreads them from 9 AM to 9 PM, so nothing needs setting inside your scheduler.

It sends approved posts once a day, twice a day, every 6 hours or every hour while the app is open. Pick the cadence that fits how often you open your Mac.

What the 1 to 500 setting means

Threadgehog's posts-a-day control runs from 1 to 500. That range exists for agencies and projects with many accounts, not as a recommendation. For one account, a handful per day is plenty, and more posts also use more of your monthly AI drafts: 300 on Solo, 750 on Pro and 1,500 on Unlimited, or more of your own key or Claude or ChatGPT plan's limits.

Reviewing a batch once a week or once a month still gets better results, because Threadgehog learns from what you approve and reject.

Picking by situation

A solo founder with a product launch might do two posts a day, one link post in four. An agency running many accounts might run a few posts per account. See the use cases for examples such as social media agencies and indie game developers.

Whatever you pick, make it a number the schedule can hold. Join the waitlist on pricing; the 14-day trial starts when the Mac app opens.

Questions

What is the maximum number of posts per day on Threads?

Meta's API allows 250 published posts per profile in 24 hours. Carousels count as one post.

Is posting more always better?

Not necessarily. We have no verified data on that. Pick a pace you can keep and watch replies.

How many posts a day should a new account post?

Start with a small number you can sustain, such as one to three a day, and adjust after a month.

Does using a scheduler affect reach?

We found no verified data on that. Schedulers post through Meta's official API.

How many characters can a Threads post be?

500 for text posts, per Meta's documentation. X posts allow 280 for standard posts.

Can Threadgehog post 500 times a day?

The setting accepts 1 to 500. The API cap is 250 per 24 hours per profile, so set a number your account can use.
