Nobody finds a Chrome extension by accident.

Threadgehog writes posts about your extension in your brand voice and sends the ones you approve to the scheduler you already use, on the schedule you pick.

14-day free trial. Cancel before day 15 and you won't be charged. Apple silicon Mac, macOS 14 or later.

Who it is for

Solo developers building browser extensions for a Chrome Web Store where a new listing stays hidden unless someone searches the exact words in it.

How Threadgehog helps

Connect the scheduler you already use: Buffer, Typefully, Publer, Metricool or Postiz. Threadgehog sends the posts you approve to it on the schedule you pick: once a day, twice a day, every 6 hours or every hour, while the app is open. Approve a Threads post and Threadgehog writes an X version, which waits for its own approval unless you turn on X auto-approve.

An example brief

This is an example, not a real customer's brief.

Product

Trimtail

What it is

A browser extension that strips tracking codes off links before you share them

Who it is for

People who copy and share links all day and never noticed the tracking junk on the end

Link

Your Chrome Web Store listing

What readers should do

Install it from the Chrome Web Store

Posts that link to it

25% of posts. Most posts should be about the messy links people already share, so the install link shows up in about 1 in 4.

Plan

Solo. One extension is one project, and Solo includes 2 projects.

Example posts

A regular post

trimtail.extExample draft

Copied a link to a pair of boots to send my brother. It was 412 characters long. The boots part was 38 of them.

A thread that links to it

trimtail.extExample draft

I counted. Of the last 100 links I shared, 71 had tracking junk on the end: utm_source, fbclid, and a session ID from a newsletter I unsubscribed from in 2023.

trimtail.ext

Trimtail strips it before the link hits your clipboard. It runs in your browser, sends nothing anywhere and doesn't need an account.

trimtail.ext

If you've ever sent someone a 400-character link, it's in the Chrome Web Store: [link]

The X version

trimtail.extX draft

Copied a link to a pair of boots to send my brother. It was 412 characters long. The boots part was 38 of them.

Example posts written to show the style. Not from a real account.

Questions

How does publishing work?

Connect the scheduler you already use: Buffer, Typefully, Publer, Metricool or Postiz. Threadgehog sends the posts you approve to it on the schedule you pick: once a day, twice a day, every 6 hours or every hour, while the app is open. Threadgehog picks the time for each post from your posts a day, spread from 9 AM to 9 PM, so nothing needs setting up inside the scheduler, which then publishes them to Threads and X. Buffer, Typefully and Postiz post multi-post threads as threads. Publer and Metricool take single posts, so a short thread is joined into one post and a long one stays in Pending.

Will every post link to my product?

Only as many as you choose. Set it to 25% and about 1 in 4 posts point people to your product and end with your link. The rest are regular posts in your brand voice, so the feed does not read like ads. The X version keeps the link too, and in a thread the link goes in the last post.
